New Orleans is hosting the 2019 Booklovers Conference

Booklovers conference in New Orleans 2019

Are you attending the 2019 Booklovers Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana? It’s taking place at the Hyatt Regency Downtown, from May 15 – May 19, 2019. The conference promises to be “The Ultimate Reader Experience,” and from the details on the agenda, it looks like it’s going to be a great time.

This link has some helpful facts about the conference, where I’ll be in various events each day. I plan to attend a few professional development sessions, such as “The Secrets to eBook Publishing Success” and “Literature & The Law: What Every Author Should Know about Contracts, Copyright, Trademarks & More!,” but the sessions that I’m most looking forward to are the events designed for mingling with readers, including:

1. Three Truths and a Lie: Romantic Suspense, Mystery, Horror & Thriller Book Signing

Friday, May 17, 2019, 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. – Authors are gathering with readers for a fun event where readers act as amateur sleuths, quiz authors, and try to determine which answer is a “truth” and which answer is a “lie.” The authors have put together prizes for the game winners. After the game, we’ll be signing books.

After the event, I’ll sign copies of Imagine, A Black Raven Novel.

2. All Law and No Order: It’s time to do the perp walk!

Friday, May 17, 2019, 3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. – Readers will join law enforcement authors (including me, a Black Raven Private Security Contracting Firm author) for an opportunity to interrogate writers. Rumor has it there will be models at this event and there will also be fantastic prizes for lucky winners. I’m looking forward to meeting all the readers who’ve signed up for this event, which is going to be loads of fun!

A local candle maker created this gardenia-scented candle. With my special fleur-de-lis on the lid, I think the candle makes a great New Orleans souvenir, and I’m looking forward to sharing it!

3. Book Bash Signing

Saturday, May 18, 2019 10:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. -Join me and over 200 of your favorite authors for the Booklovers Conference Book Bash Signing! You can buy books on site or bring some of your favorite books to get a signature (there is a policy on the Booklovers Conference website under the “Book Bash Day” heading). Even if you’re not registered for the full conference, you can attend Saturday’s signing for a $10 entry fee.

At the signing, I plan to raffle my favorite type of e-reader, a Kindle Paperwhite. Please stop by my table as you browse the aisles, say hello, and enter the raffle. I’ll be happy to sign a novel for you or, if you have any questions about my romantic suspense novels, feel free to ask!

4. Don’t be shy, say hi!

Even if you’re not attending (1) – (3), I’m looking forward to meeting plenty of readers. If you see me in the halls or at other events, please say hello. Also, I’m from New Orleans, so if you have questions regarding my home city, ask me!

Please don’t walk away without a New Orleans-souvenir pin, crafted from the fleur-de-lis on the cover of Concierge, A Black Raven Novel.

5. Thank you!

A special thank you goes out to Jo Carol Jones, Owner and Creative Director of the Booklovers Conference, for providing an opportunity for charitable fundraising at the conference. Also, thank you, in advance, to the attendees who support the charities that are represented there.

Several wonderful charities will be raising awareness and money at the conference, including Friends Fight Together. This worthy cause, which raises money to help breast cancer patients, was organized and is spearheaded by fellow author Tina DeSalvo, who is a breast cancer survivor. In addition to myself, author Cherry Adair is a supporter and “friend” of the cause.

The three of us will be attending the conference; be on the lookout for an opportunity to purchase tickets to win raffle baskets donated by Cherry, Tina, and me in support of Friends Fight Together. Fun things that are making their way into the raffle baskets include autographed books, New Orleans-themed items, a Kindle Paperwhite e-reader and a whimsical painting of a voodoo doll by local New Orleans artist Kathy Richard.

Also, New Orleans jeweler Ramsey’s Diamond Jewelers donated a gorgeous sterling silver cuff bracelet that will be raffled at the booklovers conference, with proceeds to support Friends Fight Together. The bracelet features New Orleans landmarks. Please support Friends Fight Together by buying a chance to win this beautiful bracelet!

(This bracelet is gorgeous! Stop me at the conference and I’ll show you my own!)

Afterwards, I’ll update this post with photos of the booklovers conference New Orleans, so stay tuned here for a glimpse of the fun!
